ShiftPay shows each step of the calculation. It applies the same three rules to every shift and uses the pay rate saved with that shift.
- Your break comes off billable hours, which cannot go below zero.
- Hours over 8 in a shift are estimated at 1.5× your rate.
- Your net estimate applies the tax rate you set to gross pay.

FAQ
Common questions
Is ShiftPay free?
Yes. ShiftPay v1 for iPhone is free, with no in-app purchases, no ads, and no account.
Where does my data go?
It stays in an on-device SQLite database. ShiftPay has no sync, server, or analytics. Deleting the app deletes its data.
Do I need an account or internet connection?
No. ShiftPay has no login, makes no network calls, and works fully offline.
How are overnight shifts handled?
If the end time is earlier than the start time, ShiftPay moves the end time to the next day automatically. For example, a shift from 22:00 to 06:00 works as expected.
Are the pay figures exact?
No. Every pay figure in ShiftPay is an estimate, not payroll or tax advice. Overtime is estimated per shift at 1.5× for hours over 8. Ask your employer or payroll provider for exact numbers.
Can I get my data out?
Yes. Export a full JSON backup or timesheet and report CSVs, or import a timesheet CSV after reviewing it. These actions use the iOS share sheet or file picker, and happen only when you choose to.
When is ShiftPay available?
ShiftPay is still in pre-submission and is not on the App Store yet. This page will link to the listing when it ships.
